"Small Potatoes" nghĩa là gì?

Một số người chê những họa phẩm của em là hạng xoàng. Nhưng biết đâu một ngày nào đó những họa phẩm này có thể được treo ở những viện bảo tàng quan trọng.

Từ potato có nghĩa là khoai tây, nhưng người Mỹ dùng thành ngữ 'small potatoes' để chỉ những thứ nhỏ nhặt, không quan trọng.
Ví dụ
“How much would you guess the United States annually spends on its agriculture and forests? $10 million? $1 billion? Actually, last year, it was about $20 billion. That might seem like a huge amount of money. But compared to the more than 610 billion dollars on both defense and Social Security, it’s really small potatoes (chẳng là bao).”
“Dorothy’s getting lots of attention for her paintings. Her recent exhibit made headlines in the local paper. And she just received the top prize at our town’s art festival. Some people dismissed her work as small potatoes (hạng xoàng). Then again, perhaps one day it may hang in important museums.”
