"Cook someone’s goose" nghĩa là gì?

'Cook someone’s goose' có một từ mới là goose nghĩa là con ngỗng. Người Mỹ dùng thành ngữ này khi muốn nói phá hoại một người nào, hay làm hỏng kế hoạch của người đó.

Ví dụ

Brad’s girlfriend should have told him that she was out with another guy last weekend. When he found out (biết được chuyện này), he was more than jealous (ghen tuông). He was furious (hết sức tức giận). Not only did he break up (đoạn tuyệt) with her, but he also sent an e-mail to all of their friends about what she’d done. That cooked her goose. Her reputation (danh tiếng) was ruined.

Our plane is leaving in an hour. And here we are stuck in (bị mắc kẹt) some of the worst traffic we’ve ever seen. If we don’t make that flight, we’ll miss our connection (lỡ chuyến nối tiếp). Then our goose will be cooked (chương trình của chúng tôi bị hỏng hết)! We won’t get to the port in time to board (lên tàu) our cruise (du lịch). Our vacation plans will be ruined (tiêu tùng).
